With rampant corruption, unemployment, and abuse in the 1800s in Paris, a convicted lawbreaker known by the name of Jean Valjean severs his parole after a significant period of time imprisoned. Due to quick thinking and a bit of luck, Valjean is able to make his next move and creates a brand new identity as Monsieur Madeleine, in due time attaining the positions of a factory owner and a mayor. Though previously successful in concealing his identity from his rival Javert, Jean Valjean is unfortunately pulled in the dangerous political landscape of Paris, wherein Valjean is forced to find solutions that would affect both himself and his adopted daughter, Cosette.
This narrative of Les Mis, one of sacrifice and passion, has been going on for several decades in a number of locations over many different countries. Ever since its first showing on the live stage in the late 20th century, it has proven its worth not just as one of the most epic musicals of this generation, but also one of the shows with the most awards too. In its global debut on its own, it topped the nominations and awards of the Tonys, with 12 nominations and 8 out of 12 wins.
