San Antonio Philharmonic is making a grand return to the Majestic this '25. Experience a world-class orchestral performance featuring "Classics IV: American Voices - A Symphonic Journey" featuring Jeffrey Kahane (conductor), Jon Kimura Parker (piano) and Ilya Shterenberg (clarinet) at the Majestic Theater on a Friday night, 17th of January.

Make exquisite memories and celebrate American composers in an exhilarating evening with San Antonio Philharmonic. "Pulse" by Brian Raphael Nabors will premier in San Antonio, taking audiences to an episodic rhapsody, from buzzing modern metropolis, deep wilderness abundant with animalia and scenic abyss of the ocean. Valerie Coleman's Umoja will also premier in the show, unifying listeners in its strong and beautiful anthem.

On top of the fresh pieces, Florence Price will perform her deeply moving piece "Adoration," once written as a work for church organ but is now renewed in an arrangement for clarinet and strings performed by clarinetist Ilya Shterenberg. Florence will also perform her "Concerto for piano and orchestra in one Movement" with acclaimed Canadian pianist Jon Kimura Parker. The final piece will be "an orgy of rhythms, starting violently and keeping the same pace throughout," titled "Piano Concerto in F" by George Gershwin.

Conducting the orchestra is renowned music director, Jeffrey Kahane, celebrated for his "imagination, devotion and supreme musicianship" by Los Angeles Times. Audiences will witness the highlight of the fifth decade of his expansive and eclectic musical career, with more than a dozen performances in San Antonio Philharmonic's third season. As the orchestra's first Musical Director, Kahane will engage you in an inclusive classical music experience that reflects the city's diverse heritage.

Pianist Jon Kimura Parker will bring his flair that has charmed international concert stages at the Majestic as well. The enthusiastic and dynamic veteran and winner of gold medal at the 1984 Leeds International Piano Competition, has made concerto appearances with the Phoenix, Peninsula, Rhode Island, Kansas City and of course, San Antonio orchestras two years ago. Now he is back in the city in a riveting performance of the classics.

Ilya Shterenberg will take the chair as Principal Clarinet during the performance. The Ukraine-born clarinetist, hailed by the press as someone who "possesses that miraculous gift of an innate musical sense...music seemed to flow toward the infinite, as if divinely ordained," had been heard on National Public Radio stations across the country and numerous live stages.

There are no venues better suited to a classical celebration of American voices than Majestic Theater - San Antonio, the city's oldest and largest atmospheric theater. The ornate Mediterranean-style venue does not only serve a feast for the eyes but also provides a spectacular orchestra experience with its incredible acoustics and seats.
